Craft Built Homes were involved in the Glynne Road project from concept to completion, starting with the initial house design to optimise the block's slope, views, and orientation. We worked closely with a designer to fine-tune the plans to meet council requirements, handle the planning permit, and complete construction drawings.
After a 20-month planning and approval process, we commenced construction in September 2023, with completion set for August 2024.
To address the sloping block, the garage was partially cut into the hill, and significant attention was given to drainage and waterproofing the retaining walls to prevent future moisture issues. The lower storey was built in stages, with two separate concrete slabs—one for the garage and a raised polished concrete slab for the internal rooms.
The upper storey was constructed above the garage and extended on stumps into the backyard, creating a single-storey feel at the rear. The front of the house features a double-storey design with a covered verandah deck offering stunning views of the nearby creek reserve.
The home’s exterior showcases a mix of cladding materials, including Colorbond interlock, CSR Cemintel panels, and Tallowood vertical shiplap, with a variety of cement claddings painted in Basalt.
Inside, the open-plan kitchen, living, and dining areas lead to covered decks on both the front and back, with features like a compact in-ground pool, outdoor kitchen, Hickory wideboard flooring, glass balustrades, and a window seat in the master bedroom overlooking the pool.
At Craft Built Homes, we can guide clients through the entire process—from initial design concepts to build completion. Involving a builder from the start helps ensure that the project stays on budget, avoiding common issues that arise when designs are finalised before engaging a builder.
